Blush Me... :)

I just started using blush again and I fell in love with a shade from Nars. I love love the companies lip gloss and the whole line of this shade is just amazing. I have the lip gloss, nail polish, and more recently the blush. However, I really do not like saying what the name of the shade is cause it's quite uncomfortable. The shade name is orgasm. Yes, I said it. But it is the perfect shade of coral and shimmer that I have ever stumbled across. I will awkwardly say it to anyone that asks cause it is that brilliant of a color.

You can't use too much of it though because it will make your face look like a disco ball and clownish cheeks if you use too much.

This is the packaging. I also love the compact because it is light and slim so it does not take up too much space in your makeup bag.

Apple with a blush brush or a fan tail brush for a more subtle look.

Happy Makeup Monday!!

Favorite Things!!

Concealer

Life without an amazing concealer is a very sad life. I can't leave the house without putting on some of my concealer.

Concealer will make even the most tired person look amazing and refreshed!!

I naturally have dark circles under my eyes, thanks to my lovely father, so I have tried every concealer you could ever think of!

I finally found one that was worth every penny, in the this case, a lot of pennies. oops.

It is Cle-De-Peau concealer. It was about $75 for one tube but I will have to say after 6 months of use I finally had to start rolling the tube up. It will last such a long time!!!

I love love love it! I will forever buy it. I will eat Ramen for a month to buy it! :)

You can purchase this concealer at Nordstrom's.

Wardrobe Basics

I have many wardrobe basics that EVERY woman should have in her wardrobe. I don't know how women get dressed without these items.

These items of clothing should be of higher quality because they are some items that I do not go a day without wearing and others I don't go a week without wearing.

THE BASICS!!

My wardrobe basics:

  1. A black tank top. I normally get mine at the Buckle because they offer a long version of the best tank top!! I love the long ones cause it doesn't ride up when you move.
  2. White Beater Tank. I love these cause I wear it under cardigans, jeans and scarfs, under sweatshirts, and etc...
  3. The maxi skirt. I just discovered wearing these this past summer and now that all the summer is on sale I bought 2 at Nordstrom's Rack for $16!! Love it!
  4. Sperry's. I love love love these shoes. I wear them with my yoga pants, leggings, jeans, fancy tops, sweatshirts, and t-shirts. They are amazing!
  5. Leggings. Enough said.
  6. Tory Burch flats. I know they are expensive but I have gotten such use out of mine that I couldn't  imagine life without them! I literally wear them with everything.
  7. Skinny jeans. Enough said. They are so amazing! Boots, flats, heels they look great with everything! Find a comfortable pair! More stretch the better! :)

Read next week for what different outfits I come up with for these different basic items!!

Bobbi Brown

I am a self-proclaimed product junkie and I love love trying new makeup. There are very few products that I use twice.

Bobbi Brown is the best makeup that I have ever used!!!

I would recommend it to anyone that needed a great makeup!

I have a few favorite products but the foundation stick is without a doubt my most favorite product!

It is not heavy but still has really great coverage without clogging my pores.

Try it!!!!

First day of work...

I had my first day of work today after not working for 4 1/2 months!! (Granted 2 months of that I couldn't work do to my surgery).

& I LOVED IT!!!!

I couldn't ask for a better job to hold me over until a job opens up in my field. It's easier to find a job when you have a job.

The people that I work with are so very nice and helpful. I just really hate the training part of any job. I always feel like I am in the way and more of annoyance but I am catching on quickly!

I hope tomorrow goes even better!!

Happy Monday!

High Five for Friday

High Five for Friday!

It's Friday!! Time for the weekend with my best friends!!

There are a lot of things that I am excited about this week.

1. I found the PERFECT Pair of Red colored skinny jeans! I have been looking for the perfect pair since the spring! Two of my friends bought them before me...(not too happy about that!) but shopping at the Mall of America this week I found the perfect pair of Paige Premium Denim Ruby Colored Peg Skinnies! I am sooooo excited to wear them this weekend!

2. My dad gave me the okay to go to Mexico for my cousins wedding! I am soo excited! I have never been to Mexico and the fact that I am going with my fun aunt and her family makes it so much better. The wedding is going to be beautiful and I am very excited to spend a week, drinking mojitos and sitting by the beach and pool with the juiciest beach read ever!!! :o)

The resort we are staying at is called Gran-Caribe-Real. Such a beautiful resort!

3. I get to go and visit my friends in Mankato this weekend. The past two weekends have been very busy with things going on and many people to see! I am excited to just relax with my friends and see everyone and people I haven't seen in awhile. I love my friends!

4. I spent Thursday organizing my closet after my move. It needed it! I have a particular way that my closet is organized and it has not been that way since May and it's driving me crazy! Since I am unemployed I might as well use my time wisely.

5. I have done amazing on my diet! I only cheated once, with the most delicious cupcake ever!

Happy Friday!

Favorite Things Friday!

Happy Friday!!!

It's Favorite Things Friday!!! I can't believe it's already the middle of September!! Where has the summer gone!

Here is my favorite thing for this Friday!

The....

I have a lot of products that I never use twice. The Turbie Twists however I NEVER NOT use. I even pack them in my suitcase when I go on vacations because a normal towel just is not the same. I can't stand blow drying my hair when it is fully wet because it would take forever to blow dry it and I don't have enough patience. I love these hair towels! It cuts my blow drying time in half!

You can buy these at:
  • Bed, Bath & Beyond
  • CVS/ Walgreens
  • Ulta
Happy Friday!! Have a fabulous weekend!

My Oov Surgery

As I went to my yearly doctor's appointment the doctor noticed something wrong with my belly (After calling me mildly obese and that I needed to lose 10 pounds...thank you doctor for making me feel even fatter than I already do!).

My belly was rock hard and seemed like there was a baby growing in there, that was not the case, trust me. I went down for an ultrasound to see what was in my belly.

Two hours and many thoughts running through my head later...the results came back...I had a 30 cm in diameter mass on my left ovary.

My mind instantly thought the worse...cancer. How can I be 23 and have ovarian cancer??

I had many tests done (nothing came back that made them worry about cancer, thank goodness) and referred to an OBGYN surgeon. I was freaking out! How was I suppose to live with this thing inside of me and how was it going to get out of me??

Luckily, I found the best OBGYN in the Twin Cities. She was the best doctor for the job. She was nice, answered all my questions, and was going to do everything she could to save all my female organs so I could have kids one day, what 23 year old has to worry about having kids someday?? I wouldn't wish that worry on even my worse enemy.

After I met with this wonderful doctor, I had a CT Scan the next day. Anyone have a CT Scan?? That goo that they make you drink still haunts my taste buds and gag reflexes! YUCK! They were hoping that the CT Scan would tell them more than the ultrasound I had. My doctor wanted as much information as she could get before the surgery, oh yeah I have to have a major surgery to remove the mass.

Less than a week after meeting my fantastic doctor, I went in for surgery. My aunt flew in from North Carolina to be with my mom and I during this rough time. Thank goodness for her! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful family!

I went in for surgery at 9 am. I was freaking out. All these thoughts running through my head, all the worse case scenario, of course.

They gave me some wonderful medication that made me feel like I was on clouds and I am not the one to be quiet, especially in scary situations, so I am talking to everyone in the operating room. The last thing I remember before I fell asleep was talking to the nurse about what she was going to name her child and then I was off dreaming. :)

I woke up from surgery, very sore, which is understandable seeing as I had a 10 inch incision from underneath my breast bone down past my waist line. Ouch. The mass that the pulled out of my was 15 inches and 7 pounds. Double ouch and nastiness.
Once I saw my fantastic doctor I asked her two questions, in this order:
1) Can I still have kids?
2) Was it cancer?
Luckily, I can still have kids and no it wasn't cancer, thank goodness, praise the Lord!

They not only removed my mass but also my ovary and fallopian tube. A really big bummer about the fallopian tube but I knew I was going to have my ovary removed.

The next couple of hours are kind of a blur, in and out of sleep. I finally felt good enough to start talking and I had a lot of text messages and e-mails to return! I also had to get my mind off the fact that I still couldn't eat! At this point I haven't eaten anything for 2 days! I'm hungary!

I am soo lucky to have such amazing family and friends because I just kept getting flowers and balloons from all my loved ones. All the nurses loved my room because it smelt so good and was so pretty.

I stayed in the hospital for 3 total days and nights.

I hate hospitals and all the germs that are in hospitals.

I went through 2 full bottles of hand sanitizers while I was in the hospital.

After I was released from the hospital, I instantly felt better. I was still sore but I felt like I could do much more while outside of the hospital and that made me feel better.

3 weeks after surgery I was back to my normal self. Some things still made me sore and I got tired faster than I normally would but feeling good and ready to hit the town again! The cherry on top for having this thing removed from me is that I lost 15 pounds! :-)

Now that we are 5 weeks since my surgery (Wow that went really fast) and I am getting ready to start working out again and getting this body back to its normal self, just with a really big scar on my belly.

After going through something this big I realized who were my friends and who was not. It is relly sad that it takes something like this to see who are your friends are but I am really glad that it happens cause I weeded out a lot of people from my life.

the unemployed life

I have been graduated for a few months now and still no job. :(

I have never not worked since I was 17 years old and was known for always having more jobs than I did time. It is very hard for me to not be working and sitting on the couch watching T.V and exploring the internet for jobs. I feel very lazy and worthless. Don't get me wrong I have loved being lazy some days, like yesterday when it was raining, but not everyday.

I just want a job! Any job!! I can't wait for the day that I have a job and work 40 hours a week!!

Makeup Monday!

Hello Everyone! Happy Monday! It's another start to the week and always a blah type of day.

As you read in previous posts, I am a product junkie! I love to buy product and is a frequent flyer at Ulta and Sephora.

I love makeup! I thought about going to makeup school in London because I love doing makeup so much but do not have enough guts or finances to actually do it!

I love to share some of my favorite product finds with friends, family, and fellow shoppers at my local retailers. I am very passionate about some makeup products over others but still use different products everyday, depending on my mood.

Monday is going to Makeup Mondays in my blog! I want to share my product love with everyone! Hoping I can help someone find makeup that they love too!!

One of my favorite all time makeup is from Bobbi Brown, which happens to be in the main makeup brand in my makeup bag!

I love Bobbi Brown! It is without of doubt the best makeup that I have ever used and is well worth the money that will be spent on it.

Just like many other woman I have searched every brand, store, and type of eye liner there is and it wasn't until I was researching different makeup brands that I noticed Bobbi Brown Long- Wear Gel Eyeliner. I tried it in the store and instantly fell in love. I couldn't believe how amazing it is!

I will never go back to another eyeliner. I love this too much and if they ever discontinue it I will cry and will not know what to do! I never wear black eyeliner unless I am doing a smokey eye or want to dramatize my eyes so I use the color Violet Ink. It is a purple shade and it brings out the hazel in my eyes. Basically it makes my green eyes pop even more!

It may not look like a lot but it lasts for a year! In the past 2 1/2 years I have only bought 2 of them! My first color lasted me over a year! Well worth the money, in my opinion.

Happy Monday!

Go out and buy Bobbi Brown today and you will not forget it!

xoxo Emily

Best Eye Makeup Remover

So, I have been searching for the best eye makeup remover for a long time now and I was reading one of my many fashion and beauty magazines and I saw that a drag queen uses Baby Shampoo for removing his/her makeup. I decided to give it a try. Surprise, Surprise, IT WORKED!

It was the best and easiest way to remove the large amount of eye makeup I use.

I tried using it two ways:

1) Wetting a cotton circle and applying a small amount of the Shampoo then rubbing it all over the desired eye.

2) My favorite, most effective way. I wet my eyes and LIGHTLY scrub the eyes--> apply a small amount to my fingers--> rub the Shampoo to the eyes and rub --> Rinse off --> Go ahead with your normal face routine.

I use the off Target brand, Up + Up Baby Shampoo.

Slowly but Surely I am Catching on to this Whole Blogging Thing...

So today is the Second day that I have worked on my blog. I couldn't be more confused. I am doing all this research, reading about different things to do with the blogs, and figuring out how to make my blog look like everyone else's!

I learned all about the HTML stuff my sophomore year of college but it seems like nothing has stuck with me! Why didn't I save my textbooks?! I am kicking myself now!

I don't understand how people have different categories and everything goes neatly into the categories. I am getting frustrated!! It looks like I will be spending the next few days researching more and hoping to figure it out soon!!

I can't wait to know everything about blogging but for now I will be putting my college studying skills to test.

Happy Sunday Everyone!!!

Newbie

Hello Blogsphere! After many months of reading different blogs and slowly becoming obsessed, I have decided to create my own blog. Bear with me while I am still researching and developing my blog but I promise I will get there at some point.

Thanks!
